Minority Scholarships and Grants Resources

Scholarships, grants and fellowships

Grants, grants, and fellowships are a great way to pay for college or business school, because unlike loans, these sources of financial aid do not have to be repaid. Most people think of government aid first when looking at financial aid sources, but there are plenty of private organizations that offer financial aid for the study of business and management. Some of these programs give special attention to minority students interested in attending business schools. If you are a student looking for help, start with these top sources of grants, scholarships, and fellowships for minority students.

Consortium for Graduate Studies in Management

The Graduate Management Consortium is offering merit-based MBA scholarships to African-American, Latin American, and Native American candidates studying business or corporate management in the United States. Scholarships cover the full cost of tuition and are awarded to hundreds of member top schools each year. Member schools include Haas College of Business, Tepper School of Business, UCSD Anderson School of Management, Tuck School of Business, Macomb School of Business, and several business schools.

National Black MBA Association

The National Black MBA Association is dedicated to increasing black access to graduate management education programs and careers. One of the ways they have accomplished it is by awarding undergraduate and graduate scholarships to members of the National Black MBA Association. Prizes usually range from $1,000 to $10,000. Multiple prizes are awarded each year. The organization has awarded more than $5 million so far. To be eligible for an award, applicants must demonstrate academic excellence (3.0+ GPA) and leadership potential or experience.

It has enabled thousands of low- and middle-income students to attend college by awarding more than $4.5 billion in scholarships and fellowships. UNCF has many different scholarship and fellowship programs, each with its own eligibility criteria. Since many of these awards require students to apply for federal financial aid, filling out the FAFSA is a good first step for interested applicants.

Thurgood Marshall College Fund

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund supports Historic Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), medical schools and law schools as well as students who want quality education at affordable prices. TMCF provides merit-based scholarships (also need-based) to outstanding students who are committed to teaching and learning. The organization has awarded more than $250 million so far.
